Robert Slimbach designed Myriad Arabic as a companion to the Western scripts in the Myriad Pro family. While there have been a number of Arabic sans serif typefaces, few if any were designed to work well for longer blocks of text or for easy readability on screen. Myriad Arabic addresses that need by combining classic Naskh features and subtle echoes of calligraphic weight distribution with adjusted proportions to emphasize the letters, internal spaces and distinguishing features. The Arabic faces retain the Myriad family's clean shapes and even spacing for a comfortable reading experience. The result is a contemporary design with a warm, traditional feel. At larger sizes Myriad Arabic's subtle weight modulations become more clear, giving text a restrained elegance. The family includes Italic designs to accommodate Western-style emphasis when needed.

صمم روبرت سليمباك الخط الطباعي ميرياد عربي (Myriad Arabic) كخط مصاحب لخطوط عائلة Myriad Pro الغربية. وبالرغم من وجود بعض الخطوط الطباعية العربية التي صُممت بسُمْك موحد، و المُعادلة للخطوط الغربية المعروفة عادة بخطوط الـ sans serif، إلا أن هذه الخطوط نادراً ما صُممت للقراءة المريحة في النصوص الطويلة أو لتسهيل القراءة على الشاشة. لذلك لبى ميرياد عربي هذه الحاجات بدمج خصائص خطوط النسخ الطباعية التقليدية وتأثيرات الكتابة اليدوية بالقلم مع تعديل نسب الحروف للتأكيد على فراغاتها الداخلية و على خصائصها المميزة. لقد حافظت خطوط ميرياد العربية على الأشكال الواضحة والنسب المتوازنة لعائلة خطوط Myriad Pro الأصلية وذلك لتحقيق قراءة طبيعية مريحة. وهذا بالتالي جعل ميرياد عربي خطاً حديثاً باحساس تقليدي دافئ. تظهر الاختلافات الدقيقة في سمك الخط بشكل أوضح عند استخدامه بحجوم كبيرة مما يعطي النصوص جمالاً موزوناً. وتشتمل هذه العائلة من الخطوط على تصميمات مائلة للاستخدام عند الحاجة للتأكيد على جزء من النص كما يحدث حين استخدام الـ italics في النصوص الغربية.
