Mark Jamra, born and raised in the United States, learned to love type during his graduate studies at the Basel School of Design in Switzerland. He has lectured and published essays on type design and typography, and taught letterform design and history at the Hamburg Polytechnic and the Polytechnic in Kiel. Mark was type designer/consultant for Hewlett-Packard Research Laboratories in Bristol, England and URW Software & Type GmbH in Hamburg, Germany, where he lived for 12 years. His typeface designs include Latienne™, ITC Jamille™ and Expo Sans™. He also designed Brynmorgen™ Greek (inspired by Adobe Caslon™), for the exclusive use of Brynmorgen Press in Maine. Mark lives in Portland, Maine, where he designs type, teaches letterform and graphic design at Maine College of Art, and works with Alice Design Communication.
