Q. What is Purchase and Download?
A. Macromedia Online Store customers can choose to purchase the download version of Macromedia products. This lets you download the product and start using it right away. At any time after that, you may return to your Online Store account to resume a download or re-download your products.
Q. Can I order the software CD in addition to the online product download?
A.You will be given the option of adding the software CD after you add the download version to your shopping cart. Product manuals are available in the Books section of the Online Store.
Q. How does Purchase and Download work?
A. Add the download version of the software you want to your shopping cart. You will have the option to add the Backup software CD for a few extra dollars.
After completing the purchase, you will see the Download Your Products link that takes you to the
Download Center. You can download your product immediately or at a later time. (See instructions below for more details.)
Sign in to Your Account at the Macromedia Worldwide Store at any time to download, resume a download, or re-download your purchased software and retrieve your product serial number. (See instructions below for more details.)
Q. How long does it take to download a product?
A. It is difficult to determine the exact amount of time it takes to download a file. There are many factors that can affect the download speed, such as connection type and network traffic. However, here are estimated download times for different sized files and typical connection type. Keep in mind that these are rough estimates and that your actual download time may vary. Post-Purchase Download Instructions
How to download software:
1. To download immediately after you complete the purchase process, look on the Thank You screen for the Download Your Products link and click it. This will take you to Your Downloads.
To download at any other time, follow these additional steps:
- Go to http://www.macromedia.com.
- On the top navigation bar, click Your Account.
- Sign in to Your Account. If you do not remember your password, follow the directions on the page.
- Click the Your Downloads link.
If this is your first time downloading from the Macromedia Worldwide Store, you will be prompted to download the Preview Download Manager first. Follow these steps:
When the Save As window appears, save the Preview Download Manager file to the desktop by choosing Desktop from the pop-up window.
After you download the file, an icon with a large yellow V will appear on the desktop. Double-click the large yellow V icon on your desktop and begin downloading your product.
3. Once the download process is complete, Windows users will see the serial number on the screen. Mac OS users will need to click the View Slip button to see the serial number. The "Thank you for your purchase" message will appear.
4. Write down the serial number. You will need it to install your product. Note: You can retrieve your serial number at any time from the Your Downloads area. (See directions below.)
5. To begin the installation process, click Launch.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen.
How to re-download software:
Sign in to Your Account at the Macromedia Worldwide Store at any time to re-download your purchased software. Just follow the instructions given above for downloading your software. If you have exceeded the maximum number of downloads allowed, click Request More Installations to request additional downloads.
How to retrieve your serial number:
(Note: The product serial number will not appear in the Your Downloads area until you've initially downloaded the product.)
1. Go to http://www.macromedia.com.
2. On the top navigation bar, click Your Account.
3. Log in to your account. If you do not remember your password, follow the directions on the page.
4. Click Your Downloads on the navigation bar.
5. You can choose to see a list of all your purchased downloads by product or by order date, with the corresponding serial number for each product.
Additional Information
You may need to know the location of the installer files for troubleshooting purposes. After download, the files are located on the hard disk in the C:\Windows\Vbox\Installers\ (Windows 95/98/2000) or C:\WinNT\Vbox\Installers\ (Windows NT) directories, or on the desktop (Mac OS).

When will my order arrive?
For your additional credit protection, all orders containing boxed product, CDs, manuals, and books are manually reviewed by our E-Commerce Department prior to fulfillment. We ship your order according to the availability of the product, usually within 48 hours.
To find out when you will receive an item, you need to consider the availability of the items you are ordering as well as the shipping option you select. Here's the equation we use:
Item Availability Date + Shipping Option Selected = Total Delivery Time
For example:
Item available immediately + 7 (Standard Shipping) = 7 business days maximum delivery time
Orders are usually processed within 48 hours. We ship your order according to the availability of the product, usually within 48 hours.
Availability is indicated in the shopping cart and on your receipt. Please allow for the shipping time you've selected.
Note: Delivery time is dependent on stock availability. Check for any availability messaging. Please add one shipping day if your order is placed the day before or on a national holiday. Also, express shipping is not available on Saturdays and Sundays.
To track your order, follow the link on your receipt to the shipping company, (TNT, UPS, or DHL), or call the shipping company's toll-free number and tell them your tracking number. They will give you detailed information on your shipment.
Back Orders
If an item in your order becomes backordered, we will do everything we can to fill your order as quickly as possible. If your order is not ready to ship within 7 business days, we will send you an email with an update on the status of your order.
Customs and Brokerage Information
The Macromedia Store UK will deliver almost anywhere in the world, subject to export regulations. Because we cannot determine the customs, brokerage, or other fees that you may incur when the product enters your country, the shipping company will collect these fees when they deliver your order. For a more accurate estimate, check with the shipping company. If the amount still isn't clear and you want to be absolutely sure of the charges, we recommend that you purchase the products from your local Macromedia reseller, or buy the download version of the product.
